Two weeks ago we took a quick little trip to Malibu, somewhere we both love! Malibu is such a special place for us because it’s where we got engaged 6 years ago. It’s also where we took our engagement photos and spent a lot of time when we lived there. So there was no doubt it would be the perfect spot for our 5 year anniversary. We had such a great time and it always feels like a little piece of home making a trip back to LA.
I had a ton of people messaging me while we were there asking about the place we were staying at. It was so amazing to wake up to the ocean view and walk down the steps to the water. It was a condo that was attached to a few other units and had stairs that walked straight down to the beach; I mean what more could you ask for?! The unit we stayed in was 1 bedroom/ 1 bathroom, had a kitchen and living room; it was the perfect amount of space for Mo and I. It was beautifully decorated and the location couldn’t have been better. We were right down the street from one of our favorite restaurants Moonshadows. You can find all of the info on the unit we stayed in and the others as well here.
Being that we were on our anniversary trip and staying right on the beach, we wanted to relax and get some beach time while we were there, so we spent a couple of days soaking up the beach life. One of the days we went on the Malibu Wine Safari, which was so much fun! I had been to Malibu Family Wines before to taste some wine, but never on the safari. It was cool because they take you around the property and you get to taste the wines and meet all of the animals. We got to meet the famous giraffe Stanley that a lot of people take photos with. He was in the Hangover 3 and was the giraffe in the beginning of the movie on the freeway. If you’ve never been to the wineries in Malibu I would definitely recommend checking them out, they’re so beautiful and the wine is really good!
Places To Dine
We did a lot of eating on this trip because I have so many favorite restaurants in Malibu! These are some of the best and my personal faves.
- Moonshadows: It’s right off the PCH, and has a beautiful view of the ocean. They have some amazing seafood dishes there and a gorgeous patio area to eat and lounge with a cocktail. This is one of those restaurants we continue to visit over and over again.
- Geoffrey’s: Another restaurant that is right off the PCH and has amazing ocean views. It’s tucked a way a little bit and down further into Malibu. They have some of the most gorgeous flowers and landscaping and really good food and drinks. We had lunch there and I got the best watermelon salad and refreshing cocktail.
- Nobu: If you’re a sushi lover, this is your spot! They have some of the best sushi and seafood and again it’s right off the PCH overlooking the water. Notice a trend here?! The service was impeccable and it gives you all the Cali vibes in there.
- Malibu Farm: This is the perfect opportunity to see the Malibu pier. The sit down full service restaurant is at the top of the pier. You can also go to the end of the pier and eat at the cafe which is order and sit down type of place. I got the best quinoa oatmeal and sat out on the pier, it was the most gorgeous day, but when isn’t the weather perfect in Malibu? It was really cute and I definitely can’t wait to try out the restaurant as well next time.
- Taverna Tony’s: This place has always been a fan favorite. They have the best Mediterranean food and I love the ambiance in there. You can sit on the vine covered patio or inside where sometimes there will be belly dancers dancing around.
