Well it looks like yellow is going to be my go to color of the summer again! I never used to wear much color, but last summer I picked out a couple of yellow tops and I started loving it. Crazy coming from the girl who’s entire closet was filled with neutrals! I love this top for summer because it’s very lightweight and the tie front detail. It also comes in 5 other colors and is only $8! The yellow paired perfectly with my distressed white denim, these are old, but I linked a similar pair. I pulled out the gold slides again, I swear I’ve been wearing these things non stop! Another steal too, coming in at only $10 right now.

The past few weeks I have been feeling pretty up and down, if I’m being honest. I’ve shared that I struggle with anxiety, one day I will get into detail about this, hopefully it can help somebody in a similar situation. I don’t just have generalized anxiety, it’s a little more complex. When I get into a state of mind like the one I’ve had recently, it can make it hard to go about my day to day tasks. Sometimes it’s hard to snap out of it, but these are the things I have found  that seem to help me when I’m just feeling flat out down in the dumps.

1. Sweat it out

Working out definitely helps me when I’m feeling anxious and tense. It’s a great way to release stress and get the serotonin flowing. I usually will either go to the gym for a HIIT session on the treadmill or hit the pavement for a run.

2. Blast some tunes

There’s something about playing music that just seems to change my mood. I have playlists made in my Itunes that I also use when I’m working out, so I’ll turn those on and do some work or cook. Anything productive that will keep your mind busy.

3. Call a friend

Talking to somebody helps distract your mind and get you out of that mindset. Make sure it’s somebody you can talk to that makes you feel positive and happy. Talking to somebody with that kind of an outlook will definitely help to lift your spirits!

4. Treat yourself

Do something for yourself, whether it be cooking yourself a meal you wouldn’t normally have, getting your nails done, or buying yourself something small. Now this isn’t an excuse to go crazy girls lol, but do something nice for yourself. A lot of times we put everyone else first, so it’s important to give yourself a little bit of me time too!

5. Relax

Light a candle, cue the spa music and put on a guided meditation. I have been trying to get into meditating the last year, there are a ton of people who swear by it. It is definitely not an easy task, especially for somebody with anxiety who has a million thoughts running through their head at one time! A couple meditations I have been trying that I like are the app Headspace which is a guided meditation, and when Oprah and Deepak do their 21 day meditation series. It’s free and takes about 20 minutes, they can also be bought as well.

I hope these tips can help you too when you’re having one of those days! What are some things you do to help when you’re having a bad day?

Xoxo,

Danielle
