The holidays are such a happy and fun time of year! Parties, presents and lots of food, but along with the fun can come some stress. There’s so much to be done during the holiday season that sometimes it can get quite overwhelming! When you have a million and one things to get done and only so much time to get it all accomplished, it can make you feel rushed and anxious forgetting what Christmas is all about. As my to do list gets longer, my anxiety spikes and on comes the stress! These are some of my tips on how I stay calm and collected during the holiday season.

1. Make a list

I literally make lists for everything! It always helps me to see what it is I need to get done all written down in front of me. There’s no better feeling than crossing off everything you’ve accomplished on your list, anybody else love doing this?!

2. Use a planner

I couldn’t imagine life without my planner! In all seriousness, having a planner is what helps keep me so organized. I write everything I need to do down, and then designate each thing I need to do to a certain day. This helps keep me from feeling overwhelmed and from wasting a ton of time.

3.  Turn up the tunes

Music is the one thing that always helps ease me when I’m feeling stressed or down and out. With it being the holidays Christmas music has been on repeat in my house (ask Mo he’s ready to kill me!) How can Christmas music possibly not make you feel festive and cheery, I dare you to disagree! I look forward to my evenings of turning on Christmas music, lighting a balsam candle, pouring a glass of wine and baking some Christmas cookies.

4. Turn to Pinterest

If you don’t have a Pinterest account by now, you need one! It’s literally my go to app to get inspiration for just about anything. Recipes, outfit ideas, vacations, I even pretty much planned my whole wedding using Pinterest. If you’re struggling with holiday decor, gift ideas, holiday dinner recipes, etc., use Pinterest to get the wheels turning!

5. Stay in the present

This is something I forget to do often! It can be easy to caught up in the swing of things and start worrying about what you didn’t do or still need to. This is what I call a recipe for anxiety! It’s the worst thing you can do, and will only cause you more stress. Instead focus on what you’re doing at the moment, remember you’ve made your lists and everything will get done, but right now you’re going to stay focused on what you’re presently trying to get done.

 6. Remember what you’re celebrating

Most important of all, remember what you’re celebrating! Christmas is a really special time of year and is mean to be spent with family and friends, so don’t get too caught up in all of the fluff. Cherish the quality time you’re able to spend with you’re loved ones. Time flies, and before you know if Christmas will have come and gone, so enjoy it and don’t let the stress get the best of you!

What are some things you guys do to stay calm during the holiday?

Xoxo,

Danielle
