5 Things you should pack when heading to Europe

I’m such a procrastinator when it comes to packing, and packing for Europe was quite overwhelming! We were gone for 18 days and packing for two countries and 7 cities, I was so panicked I would forget something. I always, always over pack; a girl needs options!  As far as what kind of clothing to bring, I pretty much lived in rompers, maxi dresses, jumpsuits and bathing suits. The weather was pretty warm while we were there so opted for anything that was breezy and lightweight. Other than the obvious, these are 5 things that I packed for Europe that might not be on your list.

1.Plug Converters and Power Strip

Most people know that the plugs are different in Europe, but one thing I wasn’t sure about was if my hair tools would work there with the different voltage. American appliances run on 110 voltage, while European appliances run on 220 voltage. I kept hearing that I shouldn’t use my curling irons over there because they would fry my hair or burn out. I already had purchased this smaller travel size blow dryer that was compatible, but if you don’t want to lug one around most all of the hotels have one in the room. I brought my curling iron (it’s Hot Tools) and used the converter and it was no problem at all, I even used the normal heat I use when at home. The blow dryer I ended up using on the low setting, the high setting was super powerful! Most of the hotel rooms only had a couple of plugs, so having this power strip was good so that we could plug everything in. and these plug converters.

2. Flat Shoes

I honestly have never walked so many stairs in my life as I did in Positano and Santorini. I knew we would be doing a ton of walking on this trip, so I literally brought maybe 1-2 pairs of heels and all the rest were sandals, sneakers or flats. The heels that I did bring were nude so that I could pair them with many different outfits. Every street was cobblestone, with a ton of steps, so do your feet a favor and bring flats!

3. A Wrap

I had been warned before hand that while we were in Rome and visiting the Sistine Chapel that your shoulders and any skin above the knee needed to be covered. Well let me tell you, when it’s in the 80s, humid and hot, the last thing you want to be wearing is pants or a shirt with sleeves. I brought this Turkish towel with me and used it as a wrap when we entered the churches in Florence and Rome. It was perfect because I also used it when we hit the beaches in Positano and Santorini.

4. External Battery

This will be your life saver! With all of the picture and video taking happening, you don’t want your phone to die and then miss out on documenting something. I brought this charger, which charges your phone really fast. And this charger which is perfect for when you’re carrying a smaller bag. I promise you, you don’t want to leave without one!

5. A Duffle Bag

Chances are you’re going to be buying all kinds of things while you’re visiting Europe. Between the food, alcohol, clothing and other goodies, you’ll be wanting to bring some memorabilia back with you. Pack an extra bag in your suitcase that can be easily folded up and then use it to bring all of your purchases home in.

On another note, how cute is this top!? This was a perfect top to have on my Europe trip, super lightweight and I love stripes for Italy. The ribbon detailing on the shoulders is so cute and adds the perfect touch. This top is from Zaful and is under $20! If you use the code ‘ZFMU34‘ you’ll receive $5 off your order of $40 or more.

Xoxo,

Danielle
