Happy New Year!! I can’t believe how fast 2016 flew by! I spent the last two and a half weeks with my family celebrating Christmas and New Years and traveling from Las Vegas to Arizona and back. I’m always sad to see my family go and wish we all lived closer together, but now that things have settled down, I have some new year goals that I need to dig into. Last year was the first time that I wrote down all of my goals for the new year and I did the same again this year. I loved looking back on what I set to achieve at the beginning of the year and see how much I accomplished by the end. 2016 was one of those years with many ups and downs along the way. I traveled a lot (Alaska, Hawaii, Portland, Seattle, Nashville, Long Island to name a few), my sister got married, I started my blog, and started a new decade of my life (the big 3-0!) For 2017 these are some of the goals I hope to accomplish!
1. Invest more time on my blog
Last year a few months into the year I decided I needed a hobby to keep me busy and get my creativeness flowing. Having moved out to Las Vegas for my husband’s job, I left my work, family and friends behind, so I knew I needed something for me. I contemplated blogging for a month and finally decided to take the plunge, and I couldn’t be happier that I did! I have met so many amazing girls throughout the whole process and really enjoy coming up with content to share with you guys. What started out as a trial has become something I really want to plunge into, so this year I plan on spending a lot of time getting my blog and social media accounts revamped and creating some great content for you all. Thank you for all of your support to this point, I appreciate all of the positive energy!
2. Workout and eat healthy regularly
I have always been pretty health conscious, trying to eat healthy and working out. The holidays threw that off a little bit (ok quite a bit!), so it’s time to get my butt back to the gym and eating healthy again. Things I like to do to stay healthy are eat lots of fruits and vegetables, green juices, and fish. I love going running, it helps to clear my mind, and doing intervals on the treadmill.
3. Be more mindful and maintain a clear mind
It’s so important to be healthy both physically and mentally; I have always had anxiety in my day to day life, some days more than others. I have tried many things to help curb my anxiety and have found a few things that have helped me most along the way. Some of those things beings meditation, essential oils, working out, breathing exercises and finding some sort of activity to really throw myself into, whether it be blogging, cooking, or just taking a walk to clear my mind. Sometimes we forget how powerful the mind can be, it just shows you how much control you actually have to create your own happiness.
4. Spend time with family and friends
Living on the opposite side of the country from pretty much all of our family and friends can be difficult at times, especially when you’re as close to your family as I am. In the last two years of living away I have to say I have seen everyone quite a bit, as I love to travel and am fortunate enough to be able to come and go as I please (face time helps too!) I definitely plan on taking as much time as I can visiting or just picking up the phone and calling a family member or friend, and letting them know how important they are to me!
5. Push myself to step outside the box
Let’s face it most humans are creatures of habit, as am I. We all tend to get into a routine and when we face change it’s hard to deal with; nobody really likes feeling out of sorts right? It’s ok to feel uncomfortable and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone makes you realize it’ll still all be alright. This year I plan on pushing myself to do things or take advantage of situations I normally wouldn’t because I’m afraid to or not used to it.
I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store! What are some of the goals or resolutions that you have set for yourself this year? Try making a list like I did, it’s so fulfilling to look back at the end of the year and see how far you’ve come!
