If you would have asked me three years ago how I felt about moving to Las Vegas, you would have gotten a completely different answer from me. When the idea of moving to Las Vegas was brought to my attention, I was completely against it! Now don’t get me wrong, I loved coming to Vegas to vacation, but the thought of living here, absolutely not! There was no way I was going to be happy living the crazy Vegas lifestyle, right? Well, it’s almost three years since we closed on our home and made the big move, and I couldn’t feel more different than I initially did about moving here. What I didn’t realize was how much existed off of the strip. That you could have a “normal” life and that there was life off the strip. So in honor of almost three years of living in Las Vegas, I’m sharing 10 reasons why I love living here!

1. The Weather

Let’s start with the most obvious reason, the weather! I have never been a fan of snow or the cold, I’m totally a warm weather kinda girl. The weather here is literally almost always perfect, we’ve definitely gotten very spoiled. Yes, the summer’s are very, very hot (like scorching), but I like the heat, and I’ve gotten used to it. Plus no humidity! Fall and spring are so beautiful, 80’s and sunny and the winter very mild. When it rains it’s actually a treat, and the sun shines almost daily. Literally, what more could you ask for?!

2. It’s Relaxing

Like I said, when the initial idea of moving to Las Vegas arose, I wasn’t thrilled. All I could think about was how hectic and not relaxing Vegas was. When we came out to look at houses and started seeing all of the suburbs of Las Vegas, my mind was totally changed. It couldn’t be more quiet and relaxing. We live in a very quiet golf course development where a lot of families and retired people live. It literally couldn’t be more opposite of the Las Vegas stereotype. If you want action you go to the strip, but pretty much all of the surrounding cities are quiet suburban living.

3. You Can’t Beat The Shopping

I remember my first trip to Las Vegas, I was in shopping heaven! The strip has some of the best shopping in the United States. You have every avenue of shopping you can imagine; high end, budget friendly and everything in between. Not only can you shop till you drop on the strip, but we have some of the best outlets as well. You guys have heard me mention them before, I’m a frequent shopper at the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets, so good!

4. The Location

It’s no secret I love traveling, and out here there are some amazing places to see! Whether it’s a road trip or quick plane ride, there are so many options for a long weekend trip. In the last three years I have been to LA, San Diego, Napa, San Francisco, Park City, Palm Springs, Seattle, Portland, Maui, Anchorage, Scottsdale, Sedona and the Grand Canyon. So when you get the itch to travel, it’s so easy just to hop in the car or book a last minute flight and hit the road!

5. The Healthy Lifestyle

I’ve always been pretty conscious about what I eat and trying to stay active. It’s been pretty easy to maintain that lifestyle living here. With the weather being so nice, I’m constantly outside running or walking. The hiking here is also really good, Red Rock is so beautiful! If you like being on the water, you can head to Lake Las Vegas for some paddle boarding, or Lake Mead is also just around the corner. There are also a ton of places to eat that offer healthy options as well.

6. It’s Affordable

One of the biggest perks of living here is how affordable it is. The cost of living is very reasonable, the property taxes and low and there’s no state or city tax. Obviously, if you live above your means you can make it unaffordable as well. Being able to live in a warm climate and live a comfortable lifestyle isn’t always easy. So it’s nice that you can definitely achieve both while living here.

7. The Ease

Until you have lived it, you don’t realize how nice it is to be able to drive your car without getting stuck in traffic, pull into a parking spot and not have to pay and park your car in a garage at home. The way of living is so easy here. I almost never feel overwhelmed with getting from place to place or sitting in lines of traffic (unless I’m on the strip!)

8. The Scenery

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t look around me and feel amazed to live where I do. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in the Midwest where everything is flat, but I just can’t get over those mountain views! We have some of the most gorgeous sunsets daily, pink skies with the sun setting behind the mountains, it just doesn’t get better than that. If you saw my camera roll you’d see my obsession, I have numerous amounts of pictures of the gorgeous scenery, along with my millions of pictures of Rambo 🙂

9. Visitors

Moving away from home and can be hard, especially if you’ve never lived away before. This is the third time I’ve lived out of state so I kind of knew how to handle being away. But I can remember my first move, it was so hard. I was homesick and of course you always miss your family and friends when you’re away. This is one of those cities people are constantly visiting, we have had so many visitors since we have moved here; which helps a ton. Plus I love showing everyone where we live!

10. There’s Never A Shortage Of Things To Do

If you’re a foodie, this is your city! The amount of restaurants in Las Vegas are seriously endless. Not only that, but there are a ton of different shows as well. Feeling like a spa day, take your pick, there’s a ton. You can make Las Vegas whatever you want it to be. You can come to party, relax or sight see, the options here are endless!

So believe it or not, yes there is life off of the strip! Have any of you visited Las Vegas and seen any of the areas off the strip?

Xoxo,

Danielle
