Portland, Oregon: The City of Roses

Last week I spent a couple of days in Portland, it was a quick trip, but I had never been there so I definitely wanted to check it out. We stayed right in the downtown area and when we got in it was night time and dark outside so I couldn’t see much. When I woke up and opened the shades I couldn’t believe how much greenery there was being right in the middle of the city! I have to say it was so gorgeous how green everything was, and we were right by the water, which I always love.

The Hilton Portland makes one hell of a veggie scramble!

We stayed at the Hilton in downtown Portland, it was a great location because it was walking distance to a lot of great places to see. My favorite restaurant we went to was called Portland City Grill, my cousin had told me about it so I wanted to go and see what it was all about. It was on the 30th floor of the building and had the most stunning views of the city! The ambiance in there was great, they had a piano player who was awesome and if you’re lucky enough to snag a seat by the window, you can take in the gorgeous views. The food and drinks were really good, I would definitely recommend it to anybody heading to Portland!

That snow covered mountain in the background is Mt. Hood, so beautiful!

Another area we saw was the Tom McCall Waterfront Park. There’s a path that runs right alongside the harbor and there were a ton of people walking, running and riding bikes. As you walked down the path there was a hotel, a bunch of little shops and restaurants and people out on their boats. It was really pretty, we went as the sun was getting ready to set and had a drink down by the harbor.SONY DSC

Mmmm Prosecco Sangria 🙂

Of course we had to get in a little bit of shopping while we were there, especially when I spotted the local Nordstrom. It was located right next to Pioneer Courthouse Square, also known as “Portland’s living room”. It’s a really pretty outdoor area, they hold different events there and it’s surrounded by some great shopping. Anothe area we went to was in Lake Oswego, it is about 20 mins from Portland and is in more of a suburban area. They had a really pretty outdoor shopping mall called Bridgeport Village with a ton of great shops and restaurants.

I thought Portland was a beautiful city with so much scenery. There are still so many things I would still like to see in Portland when we have a little more time to sightsee. My next trip to I would also really like to head to the coast, I heard it’s beautiful. If you have been to the coast of Oregon, I would love to hear about some things to do or see there!

Xoxo,

Danielle
