West Coast Travels

Last week my sister came in town to spend some time with me here in Las Vegas and we also planned a road trip to LA. It was so nice having her in town and spending some qt together. We went shopping at Downtown Summerlin, went to the spa at the Hilton Lake Las Vegas, spent time at the pool and did her wedding hair trial run and my highlights. (My sister does hair for film and TV, needless to say I don’t let anybody else touch my hair lol). Living here in the suburbs of Las Vegas it’s nice to take advantage of some of the fun things to do outside of the strip, which most people who visit don’t realize even exists. So we took full advantage of the relaxing side of Vegas!

Her fiance came into town Sunday night and we planned to head out to La La land early the next morning. He had never been to LA, us having lived there a few times each, we were more than excited to show him around. We drove straight into Malibu (one of my favorite spots) and headed directly to the beach. We spent the day at Paradise Cove which is a cute little beach a ways down the PCH. We rented day beds to lay out on, ordered some delicious food and drinks and walked along the gorgeous beach.

After a few hours at the beach we drove up the picturesque roads into the hills of Malibu to a winery called Malibu Family Wines. I had never been there so I was excited to experience something new. It was a secluded winery that was beautiful and very peaceful, the wine wasn’t too shabby either 😉 They have wine safari tours there, where you can see the giraffes, camels, zebras and more, all while wine tasting! We didn’t get a chance to do the safari, but it’s definitely on our bucket list for the next LA trip.

Next we went to Taverna Tony’s in Malibu, my favorite Greek restaurant. If you like Mediterranean food you have got to go! The food is amazing and the atmosphere is so great there. The patio out front is covered with vines and flowers, I just love the ambiance of it. Sometimes they also have belly dancers that dance around and the customers can join in on the dancing, it really is a great time!

We spent the night in Santa Monica exploring the Third Street Promenade and then woke up early to enjoy a delicious breakfast at Shutters on the Beach. We spent the whole next day hopping from Santa Monica, Venice, Marina del Rey and Manhattan Beach before heading back to Vegas. It was so nice being back in LA and being by the ocean (I absolutely love the beach, it’s so peaceful!).

Once we got back to Vegas we spent a day at the M Resort and Casino pool, it’s a classy hotel that is in Henderson, cooked dinner at our house (my soon to be brother in law is quite the chef!), visited the Hoover Dam, walked around The District at Green Valley and took a boat out on Lake Las Vegas.
